General Meeting

Welcome back to another year of New Sociables. We look forward to serving as your co-presidents this year and getting to know more of our members. Reminder: Membership deadline is Monday, September 14, no exceptions. Payment must be in the hands of membership that day and not in the mail.

The theme we have chosen for this year is “Friendship – the magic of being together”. A friend is a gift we give ourselves. Friendship provides a sense of belonging and creates lasting memories through shared activities, adventures and enriching life experiences.

One of the biggest benefits we have gained through New Sociables is the new friendships we have formed. To help you get to know us better, we will share in our column each month a fun fact we have learned about each other as our friendship has grown. First fun fact: We both love attending county and state fairs. However, one of us goes for the footlong hot dog and the other the pronto pup.

We will not be having a speaker at our September meeting. Instead, we will focus on introducing our board and activity leaders for the year and give you time to visit and get to know each other better. And we’ll have a little fun. Think about sitting in a different place or with one new person each month to meet and share. Here are a few questions to ask the person seated by you: What one fun thing did you do this summer? What is your favorite fair food? What new activity would you like to try this year? Each month we will provide 3 new questions – you never know, there might be a prize at the end of the year for meeting and sharing with new friends.
